Two free Netbook operating systems based on Ubuntu:
Easypeasy
EasyPeasy (formerly named Ubuntu Eee) is a Linux-based operating system for netbooks. EasyPeasy is built upon Debian and Ubuntu, but is customized for low-powered computers and access to web applications. EasyPeasy is maintained as an open source project, yet it uses popular web applications or proprietary software over free and open source software alternatives (e.g. Skype over Ekiga) when the functionality offered is deemed better by its users
JolicloudCode:http://www.geteasypeasy.com/
It is meant to boot quickly, and be very easy to install. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G modems should work right after installation.
Jolicloud supports all the major netbooks from suppliers such as Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, MSI and Samsung. Jolicloud claims that its Jolicloud OS supports 98% of netbooks with out-of-the-box compatibility by now.
Update: I found that Makeuseof.com have also posted about Netbook OS yesterday.Code:http://www.jolicloud.com/
Hmmm, wonder who posted first ? Anyway, they have mentioned about two more Netbook Operating Systems.
Ubuntu Netbook Edition (well pretty obvious why i did not mention this, its already popular)
Crunchbag (Never heard of this one)

One of my friends have installed Jolicloud on his netbook and he found that the battery was drained faster while running Jolicloud. That is why he switched to easypeasy.Code:http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-netbook-operating-systems-worth-checking/
