Yesterday ,i am trying to run a scan for errors with system mechanic 10 standard(not virus scan),SM detected 2 errors.1. i error on my one of the hard drive.2-registry is 10% fragmented. After repairing,it prompt me to restart and then after a system reboot ,all my application's shortcuts turned into strange type of format.Though i can access everything by double clicking on the icons.
Take a look at my desktop screenshot.

When nothing goes right, go left.
Could u restore the system back to an older date, if not SM had done enough damage to ur shortcuts via registry. Do as Sam suggested.
Could u try creating a new shortcut & c if it shows as unknown or known?
