Hey guys my uncle just bought kav 2010. He doesnt know the diff between kav and kis so bought kav.
I told him it does not have a firewall and he told me if a found out a firewall perfectly compatible with kav he would give me one license. so any suggestions
PS it should have no conflicts with kav. If anything happens to his comp his gonna kill me. He is a businessman so cant do without his laptop
Never in my life i hv installed just an antivirus in my pc. Always felt internet securities are the safest bet. Now regarding your question i did some extensive google search and found out comodo firewall is compatible with KAV 2010 and its the best bet.
Thats what i concluded after my google search and you can go with that.

Yes avibky, what Alpha say is true. Go with Comodo Firewall, its the best firewall out there with minimum memory usage. It won't slow down your uncle's pc. But, be aware that Comodo Firewall is not available as a separate component. So, you have to download Comodo Internet Security and then install it. While installing it asks you if you want only Firewall or Internet Security or Antivirus. Choose Firewall and you are done. Have great time with Comodo :thumb: By the way, set Comodo to Training mode for first week, so that your uncle won't be confused by the alerts it give...

By the way, upgrade to 2011 from 2010. 2011 got much better...
What options in kav should i disable so comodo and kav wwork together. Should i disable kav while installing comodo and also should i install comodo defense+.
The best firewall that works well with KAV is Outpost Firewall Pro or Outpost Firewall as opined in Kaspersky Lab Forum. You can registered there and check it yourself as Outpost firewall is highly recommended.
No need of disabling KAV. The installation should go fine even with KAV with all modules enabled. But, also consider Hakah's suggestion, as you are installing KAV on your uncle's system better choose the one which is more compatible. Better install Comodo with Defense+ offQuote:

I agree with avinash. KAV is more powerful and give you more security.
I too agrre with Avi. I love Comodo's Firewall but don't have to much faith in their AV. it doesnt have the greatest reviews for detection and its False positives.. i would recommend keeping either Kav or there are a few others that could be better than Kav,, but since question was what FW with Kav,, id say do the Kav + Comodo, Online Armor, or Outpost... possibly in that order.. unless you can get one of the promo keys for OA that has been going around for OA ++ Premium for 1yr, then id use that over Comodo possibly..

Using just Avast isn't going to give you a decent protection,you should also add MBAM in realtime for some reliable protection.
As for KAV is concerned,I am afraid its detection is not top notch these days so is Avast IS. :-_-:Quote:

my last option is to become Emsisoft forum member to solve the problem.
but i then switched to Zonealarm firewall and everything is fine till date.
i am not saying that Armor is a bad firewall but Kaspersky always have problems with their competitors products whether it is Firewall, Antispyware,Behaviour detector and so on........:wink:
I haven't tried private firewall yet but going to give it a try soon.:)
A friend is trying out CISver5 with KAV 2011 now. Seems to be working fine. Excluded process' of both in their respective exclusions. I see that KAV 2011 is much lighter than previous versions. Prior 2011 version it made the same system crawl with CISver4.
I use MBAM (Free edition) SuperAntiSpyware (Free Edition), Ad-Aware Pro, Emsisoft Anti-Malware, all along with KIS 2011 and in the past with Norton 2010/2011 and have never had any conflicts. I just make sure on all of the other products besides my main Internet security suite, I have active protection off and just use the on-demand scanners.
hey jason7619, u say kav 2011 is lighter. how about kis 2011 ? it is lighter than kis 2010. i have stayed put with kis 2010 and not upgraded to kis 2011 as i hear its more heavy.
other than this i have kav 2010 installed on another machine with comodo as the firewall and this has worked fine for me for more than a year now
