How to install it
Just run the setup executable. You can either install it from scratch, or on top of an existing avast installation (installing over both 5.0.xxx or 4.8.yyy should be fine). A reboot will be required to complete the installation

What's new
Most notable improvements include:
- Boot-time scanner for 64-bit OSes (finally!)
- Behavior Shield improvements - now with more sensors and able to detect exact offenders*
- Improved cleaning of infected computers
- Improved anti-rootkit engine - now capable of dealing with the latest TDL variants, for example
- Web Shield improvements (both stability and performance related)
- Mail and Web Shields not hosted in separate NT services anymore, resulting in much faster starts
- IS: new version of antispam engine
- Sound packs (more info coming later)

The firewall is available in the Avast Internet Security only meanwhile this thread is about the free version of Avast which lacks it.
I also tend to agree that Avast's and as well as Eset's Firewalls are weak compared to Kaspersky Security Suite :noidea:

Yeah...I agree to that also....but it's light though that's why some favors it. I also hope they add a "terminate a connection" in AIS..though you can use a third party app to do that. :)

How's updating with avastFree ver6.0.1000? A friend is asking if I have problems with auto-update and manual updates but I use AIS ver6.0.1000. He runs Win 7 64bit with AvastFree.

Anyone experiencing this..?

Grr i Think he means to say that V6 did not have any radically new feature except for bug fixes. @davhag64 avast is known to be light. IF you have any problems please create a thread we are there to help you. Also please mention your hardware configuration and current operating system and the security solutions installed on your pc. :)
