Hi guys :wave:
Just curious about which media players do you all use to play video/audio files?
Please choose an option from the list and post a comment on why you like the media player.
Would also love to hear what codecs you have installed on your computer :)
PS: I am using VLC player. No codecs installed :heh:
I use Winamp for audio and KMPlayer/VLC for videos and DVD's.... and I can give n no. of reasons why I use Winamp...
Same as Sam, Winamp for Audio plus KMPlayer, VLC or Pot player for all video files :)

it can find you subtitles for nearly 90% of the videos
and it remembers the location where you left off, so when you open the video next time, it automatically starts from where you left off
one more thing, if subtitles dont fit, its syncing mechanism is also very easy and brilliant

I'm Using Daum Pot Player for Videos :)

I am using Windows Media Player and Vlc Media Player.
I also have Quicktime player as some .mp4 files plays without their audio when i play them with vlc player.
I can convert them(.mp4) to other format but there are other family members also who are using System but doesn't know how to convert, so i kept Quicktime .:):)

Jelson, I know many players that use FreeDB to find CD info, but to tag audio files I never found a media player that does like that. But Google told me that you can auto-tag files using FreeDB by using Foobar (via Besttechie)Quote:

Real Player-no way
According to my experience, VLC Player is unable to play Real Media smoothly so I use Media Player Classic all this time. But lately, zoom player has drawn my interest so much because of its features and support for wide formats. SplashPRO seems great too but it does not support low quality formats such as Real Media......... and I haven't received my license key yet.
Regarding music player, I don't really care since I am not a music lover. Hearing it from previewer within file manager is enough for me. I even have TidySongs to organize my collection which I never use it due to it needs iTunes prior to installation.
Currently I use CoolPlayer or AIMP2 for audio, and X-MediaPlayerClassic Hc or GomPlayer for video.
Gom Player is nice but sometimes it crashes, so I'm thinking of replacing it. :dodgy:

Some days ago I tried to play a movie with a ".sub" subtitle file but potplayer didn't show them :( I guess the file was corrupt or something because I - unsuccessfully - tried to convert it with a program to ".srt".

Do you guys know JRiver Media Center? Weird if you don't since it is one of the most popular Media Player. I am currently using it. It has immense features from playing to organizing media files. You can record TV shows and podcast, rip, burn and label disc, watch and download YouTube videos, export and synch with handheld devices, and much more till I feel it is bloated sometimes. Furthermore, third party plug-ins like G-Force visualizations, DFX Audio Enhancer, or Minilyrics can also be added onto the program.
Although JMC is able to playback various video formats, it seems to tend to be audio player than video player. You can see how Softpedia categorizes this.
Recently Computer Audiophile also published a review of the latest JMC 17.

The "but" is that JMC is a shareware tagged $49,98, fairly expensive a for a multimedia player. Another concern is that JMC has not really supported Windows Vista and 7 trademark features like progress bar and jump list.
I use trusted Windows Media Player 12 and Media Monkey Gold and Zoom Player MAx.
I know J river. I have also used their free music manager. Used J river around 4years ago it was my favorite then.At that time wmp9 was not so good so had to look for options. Real player was a nagger with its messages and all. When wmp 11 came around I ditched it.

I also does have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack with Media Classic
used Jriver a long time back. I use VLC portable, the only drawback is it doesn't remember the last playback position like SM Player, but I can live with that :p
@Bala WMP :faint2: Surely you can't be serious. The reason I use VLC/SM is because they don't require additional codecs and have better features than WMP. I haven't installed WMP in the last 4 or 5 years. :nono:
@Coolbg What's Real Player mini?
WMP is good enough. I use it as my music manager ash bro. For video needs I am having Zoom Player Max. Most of the vidoes I am having wmp is able to play. In the music manager and the ease with which I can sync my phone nothing beats WMP.
Gom , VLC and KMPlayer . Depends on time and mood :tennis:
For audio now I use Foobar (its quality is really unbeatable), and I rarely use AIMP. For Video X-MediaPlayerClassic Hc, but I really like also Pot Player.
I usually use Media Player Classic.
