Suggest a suitable Data Backup Software

One of my friends asked me yesterday this in a email

I wanted to know regarding availability of any kind of software with the following capabilities.

Should keep track of last backup I have taken.
Should be able to track changes I have made hence (except any system files I am not concerned with like cache)
Should let me take backup of only those files or folder which have been modified in a user friendly way.
Anything of that sorts available?

You can try Acronis true image also. Its a great alternative to Norton Ghost.
