Problem Downloading Youtube Videos with IDM

Ok, well.........I have a very weird problem of late
IDM as we all know can download youtube videos or for that matter any flv video

But of late when a try to download a video from youtube using IDM, IDM shows only a part of the video as the downloadable video.........for example if its a 20 min video, it shows only the part thats buffered available for download, so instead of say a 90 mb video, the download shows only a 1.2 mb video

It works fine with sites like dailymotion and facebook.......but I am facing a problem with youtube

I tried downloading the same file.

It shows a 91.11 mb file.

Btw which version of IDM are you using? is it the latest one?

I am using 6.02 beta

I used IDM 6.04 and it works fine. Can you try it to see if it fixes the issue?

nopes, it didnt solve the problem

moreover, the same version is working fine on my friends pc without the aforementioned problem.


I ve also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software
I also uninstalled with revo uninstaller to remove any traces and installed a fresh copy
the problem's still there

It has something to do with the settings, i just cant find it

I did some research and found the solution myself

after this I realized that the problem was occurring because I had an account on youtube and youtube had stored cookies on my hard disk

After this it was a simple matter of removing the cookies and clearing the cache, like this
