DVD drive not recognised by Windows 8? Here is a fix
Earlier today, I found that my DVD drive wasn't detected by Windows 8. I was a bit confused because it was working fine as I had burned the Windows 8 iso and installed the OS by booting from the DVD. After a bit of searching I found that adding an entry to the Windows registry could fix this issue.
Here's what you do:
Click on the Start Tile or whatever it is called and type CMD and right click on the command prompt tile that appears and click on "Run as administrator". The command prompt window should open.
Type the following command and press enter.
reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Cont roller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
Reboot the computer. Now your DVD drive will be recognised by Windows 8

Hope this helps.
