Giveaways to be Filtered: Feedback needed

Hi everyone

I am just planning to put some restrictions on the giveaway threads that can be posted at the forum.

The reason : I do not want this forum to be turned into a giveaway forum only, as it has happened with some other forums.

MY personal opinion : Only those giveaways will be allowed which is available for everyone and not limited in numbers.

I know this thread may look absurd to many of you, but I want to make this forum to grow as a software/hardware/computers etc forum like Wilders and few others not a freebies forum.

What you guys think about it

I would say that most if not all of the giveaways that are posted in this forum are posted other places so I highly doubt that this forum will turn into a freebie forum. If you decide to do restrict it, I think you will be hurting yourself more than helping. It actually generates traffic for the site.

While i do agree that many members come looking for freebies and generate traffic, i think the idea of moving towards building a Software/Hardware forum is interesting.

We already provide a lot of info on software updates/recommendations and reviews of softwares, these are the stepping stones to build a Techie forum.
Besides that, we already have frequent giveaways at the blog.

We need more threads for the forum to grow.
Like Internet related softwares, multimedia, backup software, desktop enhancement(themes, wallpapers), office & productivity softwares, image editing tools.

In my opinion it should not be allowed. In the first place why double the post if it already exist? Maybe the best thing to do is to add some comments, suggestions, additional info if you have.
