Windows cannot load the local profile

Recently i ve started encountering a problem when logging into my computer, which runs windows xp

    It shows the following messages

"windows can not load the locally stored profile. Possible causes for this include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator."

    Followed by

"Windows can not find local profile and is logging on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off."

The computer returns to normal if you reboot the pc, but it shows up again the next time i restart my pc

    Helpppppppppp ppl!!!!!

Hi Ashok, sorry to hear you have trouble with your PC

    Read these articles on microsoft.com

The next time you get the error message boot into Last Known Good Configuration (LKGC)

    1. Start the computer and keep tapping F8 key on the top row of your keyboard.

    2. A boot-menu will appear, select LKGC from that. It should load into the latest working config of your OS, dont worry you wont lose your files.

If that fails to solve it, try system restore.

Follow step 1 and select safe mode.

Then click on the start button and All Programs > Accessories > System tools >System restore.

Choose a restore point date on which you know the computer was working fine, wait for it to reboot.

Try the steps and post your feedback

PS: For dual boot OS, keep hitting F8 the moment you select XP on your menu

The reason I wrote the post step by step is for other people who may not know how to boot into safe-mode or use system restore.

    I have 1 question.
Will the LKGC work if System Restore Off?

    Quoting this from Microsoft

"This article describes how to use the Last Known Good Configuration feature in Windows XP. The Last Known Good Configuration feature is a recovery option that you can use to start your computer by using the most recent settings that worked. The Last Known Good Configuration feature restores registry information and driver settings that were in effect the last time the computer started successfully. Use the Last Known Good Configuration feature when you cannot start Windows XP after you make a change to your computer, or when you suspect that a change that you just made may cause a problem. For example, you can use this feature if you cannot start Windows XP after you install a new driver for your video adapter, or if you installed an incorrect driver and have not yet restarted your computer.

When you start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, Windows XP restores information in the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet
Note Any changes that were made to other registry keys remain."
