Thread: Windows 7 64-bit error on full backup

    Exclamation Windows 7 64-bit error on full backup

    Error message when attempting "A System Image" on a Windows 7 Genuine PRO 64- bit Sony Vaio new Laptop:

    "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".

    Trying to backup on a relatively new (a month old) 3Tb WD Essential External HDD.
    Tried 2 different USB ports, still the same error.

    The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error (0x8007045D)
    And there is another error code: 0x80078002A

    Ok, i had this drive exchanged & got another one, same 3Tb..

    guess what ..same error

    Can you try using backup with a different HDD or portable HDD to make sure that its not related to your OS or HDD.

    Yes, the system image was successfully created on my old 1Tb WD-HDD.

    Then it looks like some problem with your New TB Hard drive. Either the drivers are not working as they should or some compatibility issues with windows 7 64 bit.

    Agree, how to check that whether it is WD or MS...

    got this while googling

    Fixed here.
    Goto computer properties | Advanced system settings | System protection tab.
    Uncheck all drives, hit apply. This will turn of shadow copies and clear them.
    Reenable the drives, hit apply. Since you just cleared them all you may also want to hit the create button to repopulate at least one.
    Run the backup again.
    Also, this may help

    no luck whatever.
    I'm returning this 3tb drive.
