Question What to do with Healthy (Recovery Partition), what's the use?

    Hi All,
For my new Sony Vaio laptop I see the following partitions:
    1. Healthy-recovery Partition (11.61Gb)
    2. System Reserved (100Mb)
    3. C: - OS (454.05Gb)

    pic-attached.

Laptop is just opened so nothing is changed.
As this is my first time for a new laptop & for Windows-7 I'm not able to understand what is this Healthy-recovery Partition (11.61Gb) for? Is it required or not? How is it useful?

I googled and read couple of posts but nothing is clear to me.

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks,
    Grr

Recovery partition is used for one button restore of your system back to factory settings when something bad happens on your system. So you should let it stay as it.
Its just like your System image and you can use it to restore your system.

it should not be free, may be you just cant see the data. It may be hidden. you cant see it by browsing like other folders.

You have to create recovery disk from it. For that you need 2-3 DVDs.
Goto startup menu there you will find something like "VAIO RECOVERY CENTER".
Click on the create recovery disk option and follow the instructions.
    Hope this helps you....

    Thank you
