    System Mechanic free version

I know that many of you like System Mechanic, so I thought of sharing this with our members

System Mechanic have started offering a free version.

Click on compare versions to see what the free version offers (read lacks )

    System requirements
    Windows® 7, Vista, and XP
    256 MB of RAM
30 MB of free hard drive space
    Update:
The installer is 572kb, run it and it will download an 18 mb file and offer to save the installation file to a location of your choice.
During installation, choose Free version. You need to provide a valid email id to get a free license. Many softwares do this, (for eg: Avast, Avira).
You will receive a license key in your email inbox, use it to activate System Mechanic free version.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the information Ash. System Mechanic was in market since a long time but didn't get much popularity like others, so I think releasing a free version might help them.

It has always been popular, but the aggressiveness of the registry cleaner made users cautious.
It screwed my desktop running XP in 2003.

Always create a restore point or have a system image handy, in case anything untoward happens

    Thanks for confirming

I did not have a browser open at the time of installation, so not sure when I got mine. Probably within 5 or 10 minutes.
