    Anyone using Internet Download Accelerator

    Anyone using Internet Download Accelerator?

It used to be premium but now they have a free version for non-commercial use.
I came to know of this through Gizmo's site.

    Code:
    http://westbyte.com/ida/
    WOT ratings are good
    Code:
    http://www.mywot.com/scorecard/westbyte.com
Trouble is the Browser defender report:
    Code:
    http://www.browserdefender.com/site/westbyte.com/
Can anyone can confirm if it is safe to use?
It is hosted on Cnet too, but it says trial version

I think it is safe. If you see there that site is called dangerous due to this software getbar.exe
    Code:
    http://www.browserdefender.com/file/103939/site/westbyte.com/
    which has
    Code:
Adware.Component.SBSoft: Common components shared by a number of malware such as Iwantsearch, Web--Search and Tubby Toolbar.
So, merely a toolbar, whick you can uncheck during installation.

    Thanks Sujay,

See this report by Threat expert on the above mentioned "malware"
    Code:
    http://www.threatexpert.com/report.aspx?md5=e654d8733a4cdb0a38f6b67a75ed42e1
I believe this is where you found the details, anyway it shows severity to be high.
I will see if it asks for any tollbar installation

May not be a false positive.. As toolbars are always catagorized as adware for they try to hijack the homepage and search engine...

Dont worry, apart from Norton IS, i have Superantispyware Pro and Win Patrol Plus that have realtime protection of Homepage hijacking.
And SAS Pro prevents installation of malicious software

Good... Also keep MBAM as a on-demand scanner.. I think you already have Spybot as on-demand ..

Maybe i should include my security softwares in my signature.

Realtime: SAS pro/ Winpatrol Plus/ Norton IS 2010/
On-demand: MBAM free/Spybot S&D (without tea-timer) and Spyware Blaster (browser immunization, not a scanner)
FireFox addon: WOT/ Norton IS toolbar/ Browser Defender/No-script/Ad block plus.

I run quick scans once a week using MBAM, SAS pro and Spybot S&D.
